The present book, which represents the published version of my doctoral dissertation, is a comparative study of morpho-syntax based on the idea of the isomorphism between lexical item and root clause. I investigate the expression of change of location (directed vs. located motion) in English and Romanian, with particular focus on the syntactic composition of Manner and Motion in intransitive-based Goal of Motion constructions (GM, henceforth) (He limped into the room. / A intrat în cameră șchiopătând.). The framework proposed is that of Zubizarreta and Oh (2007), which draws upon the lexical syntax elaborated by Hale and Keyser (1993, 2002), a theoretical model built on the basic tenets of Universal Grammar.
