Their existence was too improbable to be accepted without great resistance, even from scholars. Their dating was aided by paleographic parallels, and these created the fertile ground for the development of Qumranology, a discipline that remains strongly influenced by the imaginary of the fragment and typological classification.<br \/>\nThe present translation is based on the Hebrew original and is accompanied by the critical philological and historical apparatus necessary for understanding the text.
