In the context of lifelong learning (LLL), higher education can no longer be seen as an isolated trajectory in a person’s career. Students are challenged to shape their own professional path. Difficulties are encountered at every stage, both when choosing fields of study and during their studies, with most dropping out after the first year, and when entering the labor market they face structural barriers that prevent them from accessing the positions they desire. By understanding the associated challenges and implementing effective support strategies, universities can contribute to reducing dropout and increasing students’ academic success.
The volume Gestionarea tranzițiilor educaționale la nivel învățământului superior din perspectiva relațiilor cu învățământul preuniversitar și piața muncii represents the effort of the UB Learning Center team to provide decision-makers with relevant information related to the phenomenon of dropout in higher education, based on international, national and institutional research studies, proposing a strategy to reduce dropout and increase the employability of students and graduates.
UB can support students in the transition processes from secondary to higher education, as well as in the academic course, in order to successfully complete their university studies and integrate into the labor market by:
o Promoting an inclusive environment by creating policies that recognize and value the cultural diversity of students and by organizing events and activities that encourage interaction between students from diverse backgrounds.
o Flexibility in requirements, offering multiple options for completing courses and assessments that take into account individual learning styles.
o Support services by developing programs to facilitate integration, such as student orientation courses or coaching and mentoring activities.
o Personalized academic advising, ensuring each student has access to guidance to find an academic path that suits their values and needs.
