Through the texts collected here, we pay homage to the career of Professor Vlad Nistor and the impact he had over the decades of his commitment, in the academic environment and beyond. History and politics have always been in a natural association, even when history is that of the ancient Roman world, and politics is that of the contemporary era. But let us not forget, the modern world has assumed, since its formation, the legacy of classicism. There is no modern democracy without the ancient example, nor a modern vision of leadership without the model of the great figures of the Roman Republic and Empire. The two pillars of Professor Nistor’s intellectual and public identity are evoked by historians, philosophers, diplomats and journalists, friends and colleagues, former students and partners in institutional projects, who have the joy of offering him these pages on his 70th birthday.
