The present volume studies the Hebrew term panim, usually translated as “face”, but which has an extensive semantic field within the biblical Hebrew language, which goes beyond the bodily dimension. The analysis of this term reveals a particular complexity, since it designates not only features of the exteriority of the human person, but also notions related to presence, identity, relationship and manifestation, both on a human and divine level. In a monographic approach, the work aims to highlight the main meanings and semantic implications of the term panim in the context of the Hebrew Bible, through an interdisciplinary approach that combines philological and hermeneutic analysis, adding to them an original connection with mathematical analysis, by highlighting a series of similarities between the meanings of the term studied and the concept of vector, which allows ramifications towards philosophy and theology and opens a broad horizon of interpretation and re-signification of the biblical text.
