This volume brings together some of the papers presented at the 23rd International Colloquium of the Department of Linguistics, held at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Bucharest on December 8–9, 2023. The event brought together 120 participants from various corners of the world – Romania, France, Belgium, Poland, Canada, Australia – affiliated with prestigious academic institutions. The papers presented in the six traditional sections (grammar and phonetics, pragmatics and stylistics, lexicon, semantics and terminology, language history and dialectology, didactics of the Romanian language and literature, didactics of Romanian as a foreign language) reflect the diversity of orientations and concerns among the participants. The works published in this volume belong to researchers from different generations, strengthening the role of the colloquium as a space for dialogue and continuity in the field of linguistics.
