An analysis of the functioning of language as an action within communication in Romanian autobiographical discourse after 1990. The desire was to comment on the discourse, to highlight the mechanism of producing meanings and the correlation of signifying processes with those of communication, the specificity of the verbal communication process in autobiographical narrative, a particular type of discourse.
The work demonstrates that, for the understanding of any era, the method of oral investigation is beneficial, especially for periods of dictatorship, when written evidence only partially reflects reality or is absent.
Time is reconstructed as the interviewees are determined to analyze and become aware of their biography, and in their life stories they describe both their inner life and the social contexts they have crossed, reconstructing the world as they experienced it and understood it.
