This book is both the result of academic work and the effect of personal visits made by the researcher over the past 20 years to various evangelical Roma communities in Romania.
His personal experiences – sleeping in tents in some of their yards, eating with them, observing their hopelessness and disappointment, listening to their life stories, music and prayers to God – all led to the emergence of this book.
As a result of ethnographic research, it was possible to see the change within these communities: the corners of the scarves wet with the tears shed by the Roma mothers and wives reflected their despair and disappointment. Now, the Roma enjoy prestige in their workplaces, the Roma children in the evangelical communities have a higher school education, and the living conditions in their homes have improved. Evangelical Roma families – not at all extravagant – now have joy and much good cheer.
How is this possible? The answer is: God! Similar to the Early Church, the evangelical Roma, by reading the Bible, discovered God and thus their values ​​were changed: they care for their fellow men and their families, they pray (they say many prayers) and offer a holistic perspective of the individual and their community. God becomes the answer for every village and individual in need.
It is possible that the Church is the answer to the problems found in many areas and to many individuals in need, regardless of nationality or language, if biblical values ​​and principles are implemented correctly.
