SINTAXA CONSTRUCȚIILOR COORDONATE ÎN LIMBA ROMÂNĂ

This monograph constitutes a detailed analysis of the main problematic aspects raised by the study of coordinated constructions in Romanian, in the light of recent research dedicated to coordination. The present work is structured in four major chapters, each debating a problematic aspect.
The first chapter delimits the empirical field of coordination, insisting on the dichotomy coordination vs. subordination: distinctive tests are proposed that allow the delimitation of the two syntactic relations, so that later the syntactic types of coordination are discussed, as well as the inventory of coordinating conjunctions in Romanian. The second chapter deals with the notion of parallelism in coordination, insisting on the multitude of asymmetries that can be observed at any of the linguistic levels (morpho-syntactic, semantic, discursive). The third chapter proposes a syntactic analysis of coordination, bringing arguments in favor of a hierarchical structure and an atypical behavior, the coordinated structure behaving essentially like an exocentric group (without a group center). The fourth chapter addresses the phenomenon of ellipsis in coordination, with a detailed analysis of the most frequent elliptical constructions within coordination, in order to highlight, beyond the specific properties of each construction, their general properties that explain the affinity of ellipsis for coordination.
The perspective is mainly syntactic, but, given the complexity of the phenomena discussed, the approach is integrative, syntax being constantly treated at the interface with other linguistic levels (in particular, semantics and discourse).
