A discussion on the translation strategies employed, their advantages and their drawbacks, as well as the challenges the original text presents to the translator approaching it after nearly five centuries. I discuss these strategies in greater detail in the analysis accompanying the translation. This analysis aims to open, so to speak, a window into the translator’s innermost mind: to reveal the translator’s way of thinking, the lexical or stylistic choices, and the translation proposals implemented. In the translation analysis, I also included an interpretation of some key ideas in the Prose that might be more opaque to the contemporary reader.
