The book that constitutes the subject of the present edition, printed together with the Psaltirea în versuri, at Uniev, in 1673, is a small one and could pass as an insignificant work of old Romanian writing, but viewed closely, it proves to be, in my opinion, the starting point for understanding the entire activity of Metropolitan Dosoftei as a translator. Beyond the nuanced expression to which he forces the Romanian language, he manages to propose, indirectly, through the way he relates to the texts he transposes from one language to another, a true vision of the act of translation itself.
