THE BYZANTINE FRESCO AND THE GREAT ART OF THE WORLD

“From the democratic and levelling perspective of post-modern culture and art, one must say that the art and discipline of fresco affirms itself and assumes, by its petty gestures we shall mention, its whole past, as well as its ,,task” of being by no  means an easy, spontaneous, unfoundedly experimental or innovating ,,for art’s sake only” plastic exercise.

The art of fresco, especially that of the ecclesiastical Byzantine one (the object of our research), is an art that must be practiced as a modus vivendi, with all the assumed risks, because this way of being in art is also a choice, an option that deserves the same consideration as all great contemporary plastic discovery.” (The author)
