The 2007 Annual Conference of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures bore the indicative general title Centrality and Marginality, a title indeed tuning in with approaches to the question of identity in recent years. Not only did the event bring to the fore some of the tropical issues in the cultural identity discourse, it also proved that interdisciplinarity has clearly become unavoidable in literary-cultural studies, the very two components of this discipline of disciplines being now undissociable.
